walker Texas ranger

Within the last week we have had an exciting adventure. Gwen stared walking. It is really funny I have heard people talk about how just one day they will up and walk around, but I was having a hard time believing that it would be so simple...then ta-da. James and I were talking in our room and I had Gwen on the floor with me, then all of a sudden she stood up and walked right past me and into the bathroom. I was laughing and crying at the same time, but I have to say that the best part is that both James and I were able to see her take her first steps and then we were also able to share the moment that she walked long distance. There is a new sheriff in our home now, and she is on the move for sure. So watch out Chuck Norris. ( Oh if you are wondering what she is doing roaming around practically naked it is because she was on her way to the bath.)

its about time

Well we have almost been here for a year and this month we actually became staple Texans just by registering our car. It is really funny that when you move here they send you a little packet in the mail that says you must register your car within 60 days, or you will be fined big time if you get pulled over. Well we had just registered in Logan before moving out here so James didn't want to pay for it again...I felt nervous about it, but since James was doing all the driving and I hardly ever even saw the car, I let it go. But while James was shooting the music video he got pulled over and he did get a ticket, but we were lucky that it was for speeding and not for the registration, so yet again we waited for the registration to run out. At the end of this month it would have been up, so we are even ahead of the game. However it did take us awhile to put the plates on. But now all is well and it is official. Thank goodness that is all over.

WARNING sno cone lovers

For those of you who like a good sno cone here is a little warning so that you will not be bamboozled like we were. Last summer the fun sno cone place that we went to was on this corner right by P. Terry's, we thought that since it was such nice weather we would take Dan for an icy treat. So we came to the same corner and to our surprise the sno cone place had a whole new get up. Look at that shiny new trailer, and it seemed that was not the only new thing. Well we went over and had a look at all the new changes. They had all the syrup on the outside so that you could pump your own, and let me tell you that was not as glamorous as they make it out to be (so sticky). And they didn't have all the yummy toppings. I was really quite upset. So we ordered and the girls inside really didn't seem to know what they or we were talking about. So we left with our lame treats and as we were walking to P. Terry's...
There it was on the other side of the block. Sno Beach! So I dumped my cone and headed over to tell the people that we were swindled by their sneeky counterpart. They had a lot of questions for us about what the "Others" were like. So we ratted them out. Then purchased a yummy green apple with caramel and cream sno cone. And we all ate it up. In the end all was well, but I just thought that I should issue a small heads up so that you will not be disappointed if you are looking for something specific that sno beach has and the other places don't. Good luck and happy sno coneing.

Farewell to Dan

We just wanted to take a moment to say farewell to our friend Dan Frost. He has been living in San Antonio for the last three months as he completed a training course. So on the weekends he pops up here to Austin for a little visit and to be harassed by Gwen, and beaten at Settlers by James. I know that Dan is counting down the seconds until he can see his awesome kids and beautiful wife again, but I have to say that we are going to miss you Dan. Feel free to drop in anytime, we totally consider you a part of our family.
So for his last day here we made Dan and Mike come with us to Ski shores for burgers. It was really nice weather so a lot of people were there and the boat parking was almost full. I started to take some pictures and Gwen looked so funny siting suspended between the top of the table and the bench that I tried to take a picture but the camera and I were not working so well together.

And here Gwen and James are still waiting for their food. After I took this one we moved into the shade and I forgot to pull out the camera again. But have no fear the lunch was great. We also were able to see a few of the basketball games leading up to the Sweet 16. Dan educated us in that area. Thanks Dan, we think you are fantastic.

a funny thing about schlotzsky's

Do you see that little surprised face? I think that is so funny.

Alright here is a interesting thing. James and I went to a Schlotzsky's Deli a little while ago and when we were sitting down the man behind the counter brought Gwen a cookie and said that it was on the house. We were like that is great. So a few weeks later we went back for lunch and after we ordered there was a girl who brought Gwen out a free cookie, and said just don't tell my manager. Yet again we were thinking that was pretty cool. However not 10 min. later the manager came over and handed James a little bag with a cookie in it and said that it was for Gwen. So now I was wondering if this is a normal procedure for all the Deli's, or if Gwen was just too cute for all the employees to resist. Well now I am going to issue a challenge. I am really curious to see if all kids are treated the same, so if you are up for our challenge the Deli that we attended was on 620. Across the street from the Lakeline shopping Center, and right in front of the Lowes. If you happen to go there let me know if you get a cookie for your kids. Good luck. Oh and Just so you know the cookies are pretty good.

if your're tired and you know it

So I was talking to Sylvia the other day and we started talking about how funny it is that Gwen can and will sleep anywhere. I was sorting through the photos of Gwen and I came across these. It was actually not that long ago and we had run around like crazy that day and when we got home I was getting dinner ready and she found this blanket and fell asleep right on the living room floor. I guess that it really doesn't matter where you sleep when you are tired, just so long as you get to sleep. Right?. I think that it is so funny that she is all spralled out and her little face is still in the blanket. What a crack up.

piggy back pals

We are all about piggy backs around here. Gwen thinks that it is so fun to basically hang off of dad. And then after they finish running around they sit down on the couch and Gwen just laughs and laughs. Here she is stuck between James and the couch and she is cracking up. Ahh, the good ol' days of being carried around by someone else...What must that be like? Well Gwen sure makes it look fun.

playing around

The other day I was doing something in the kitchen and I heard Gwen talking away in her room. Naturally since there was nobody else in the house but the two of us I went to have a little peek. As I looked around the corner she was reaching in the bottom toy drawer and pulling out the toys and talking to them, then she would reach back in and pull out another. She did this a few times as I ran for the camera. When I returned she was going back in for more. I love that she is content to play alone, as well as with her little friends. It just makes me think how big she is getting. I sure am glad that I take a ton of pictures.
