the truth comes out

Alright so I remember that Gwen was pretty chubby when we moved out here, but here is a picture of her at 7 weeks, I'd say those cheeks are pretty cute.
And that brings us to Harrison. We have now reached the 7 week mark for him and he was all smiles. So here are a few to show how much he loves being such a big boy.

I guess that they could pass for siblings, But who knows maybe not in a few weeks?

waiting for Santa...

On Monday Gwen and I decided to get ready for Santa. Well basically I was lifted up in the Holiday cheer because all the commercials are so festive and I decided that I was ready for a little Christmas cheer in the Barlow home. So Gwen helped me hang up some stockings...and this has become a great hiding spot for her things.
She helped me fill up some jars with neat and shiny things,
We pulled out stars, and candles, and ornaments,
And we put up the tree. Now this is a particularly tricky thing with a 21 month old, she wanted to take it apart as soon as we got it up, but she is pretty much over the shock of having her own tree in the front room now, so we are going to leave it up for Christmas, thank goodness I wouldn't want to not have a tree, just because Gwen couldn't stop taking off the ornaments. But that is just my personal feelings. Welcome to the crazy Christmas season. I am so ready for the Christmas music.

Tag I'm it.

I know that everyone is tired of seeing our kids, so here is a little break to hear about, well James and I, as if that is interesting. I was tagged for this little survey and I told James about it and he said "Don't do it." Ahhh but he is taking a nap therefore I will sneek it into the blog archive. So here we go.

What is your Husbands name? His name is James, but when we were dating he had at least 10 different names that he went by, but now he mostly goes by James, chico, and dad.

How long have you been married? 6 years 2 months 4 days, and some change.

How long did we date? What is the technical definition of dating? I think that we were kissing friends first, but it was about nine months.

Who eats more? James says that when it come to quantity he wins hands down.
Who said I love you first? James dropped that bomb first...totally took me by surprise. As a matter of fact I do believe that I didn't say anything else the rest of the evening, that is how stunned I was.

Who is taller? James is on most days, but I can get up there with a really great pair of shoes. But he doesn't like that too much, he says that he likes me to be shorter.

Who sings better? I may sing more but only because of the kids, but James sings way better. You know he was in a show choir. (and he had many a solo.)

Who is smarter? I think that James is so much smarter. Sometimes I will find something out and think that I will get him, but after I ask him or spill the info he always gives me extra info on the subject. Just when I would be feeling clever.

Who has a worse temper? That is interesting, we are not really temper people, but I would have to say that I get mad easier, but we are pretty mellow people.

Who does the laundry? I do, but that is not to say that he doesn't know how, I just like my way better. Plus if I do it then it actually gets done on a regular basis.
Who does the dishes? I do the dishes, but basically for the same reasons as the laundry. Here is a funny little thing, so I do the dishes, but James tried to unload the dishwasher the other day, and later that evening I was looking for a dish and I found all sorts of things in random places. I really started laughing out loud, I guess that I better just do them myself if I want to find anything.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If we are laying down that would be me. It just makes it easier for me to get to the kids faster.
Who pays the bills? Most everything is automatic, but for the things that are not, I do.

Who cooks dinner? I attempt to, but if I don't then James is the meal delivery guy. He will pick up all of our favorites on the way home. That is a real hero.

When driving together who drives? James does. I find it strange to drive him around. Plus I like to look around, that is not a really great match for driving.

Who is more stubborn? There is no argument from James that I am. It so true. And sadly that is something that Gwen has inherited from me.

Who is first to admit that they are wrong? Well that would be me.

Who's parents do you see most? That would be the Barlow's. They are alway up for an adventure to Texas. Plus if you are counting the video that they sent Gwen then it is practically like we see them everyday.

Who kissed who first? James will not be happy about this one, but here it is, James leaned in to kiss me and I moved out of the way, I could see the steam coming out of his ears he was so mad. I felt really bad it was just something that happened so I spent the next 20 minutes being thrown in the snow waiting for another chance for him to kiss me again, and lucky me he did.

Who proposed? James did. Good man.

Who is more sensitive? Is that really one of the questions? I am all around more sensitive, I get misty eyed at some commercials. In a good movie I am a gonner.

Who is tighter with money? This is a funny one. I am with somethings, and James is with others, like trying to cut back on eating out so much.

Who wears the pants? I would say that James does. He is the head of the house. Our pirate king.

Who has more friends? I would say me, but I am not so great at keeping in touch, I am kind of a slacker. But I do try to.

Where were we engaged? Actually at the confrence center in SLC.
Where were we married? married? Just kidding we were married in the Logan temple. It was three days after 9/11. Talk about some wedding drama.

Where was our Honeymoon? we were right in the middle of school so we spent the weekend in a super lux hotel in Salt Lake. All you really need is a hotel right.

Well that is us thanks for killing some time.

fire starter

Paige set up a really fun adventure for the weekly play group. We went on a tour of a local fire station. It was really neat to see how the fire fighters live and work. We were able to see the big fire trucks, and spray the fire hose...
They also let the kids go inside the truck and even sit in the drivers seat. This is Gwen doing the new not smiling act.
Ah yes here it is again. I don't know why she won't smile for the camera. Attitude I guess.
Here are all the kids that came to see the station. And some of the fire fighters that helped us out.
All the kids got shiny gold stickers that look like fire badges, and paper hats that they could take home to color, cut out and wear. It was really interesting and even though the kids didn't really get too much out of it I really enjoyed it. Thanks Paige.

never say never

So for those of you who know me know that I have always been against the mini van, well when we brought Harrison home from the hospital and had two kid seats and all of our stuff even sitting in the front seat felt cramped. That is when we started looking for something a little bigger...but not in the mini van area. So I am sure that you are wondering how we ended up with one.
Do you see all that room? This puppy is like a transformer on the inside. It really does all the tricks that you can imagine. It has bells and whistles that make it practically livable. Really it is so practical for our needs.
So really my biggest qualm with mini vans is the outside look...but I have to say that I really don't mind this one. This has been a big lesson to me to never say never.

a little round

Harrison is getting more and more round all the time. So here is a post that is dedicated to our new favorite shape...circles. Perfect for cheeks...
Cheeks...
CHEEKS!

gotta wear shades

We found these little eye care glasses from James' eye appointments. I had forgotten about them, but Gwen remembered them and so we put them on for a little show.

I feel like we are like robo cop wannabe's.

feeling guilty

I have to admit that I am feeling a little guilty, Harrison is the classic second child story. By the time Gwen was one month old we had videos and hundreds of pictures of her. But I have really slacked off with poor Harrison. Here is Gwen taking out her binki to give her baby a kiss.
Here is a funny little smile, sure it may be gas but none the less I got it on film!!! Yeah!
One of the classic Harrison looks. Just lounging around.
So in this little picture he has just taken the passifier out of his mouth, and behold he is not crying it is a miracle. So I am not making any promises that he will have even half of the attention that Gwen had, but I do think that I will be trying a little harder to make him a tiny bit more equal.

one month down...

I can hardly believe that it has really been a month, but it is true. Harrison has now graced us with his presence for 4 weeks now. He is getting chubbier all the time. I love those little cheeks.
Gwen gave him a little bunny to hold while he was asleep, but she took it back later, naturally. I am excited to see him get bigger just so we can find out what he is really going to look like. I do like a good surprise. I think that he is going to have red hair...but we will just have to wait I guess. Its funny that in just another month he will look totally different. I can't wait.

the last of Halloween

Here is Gwen chasing Simone (Raggity Ann) around.
I am trying to get her to say cheese...but it just ends up making me look silly.
We have the wandering child. If you can't tell she is the one that has to be held down for the pictures.
James took her around the neighborhood and as you can see she is not afraid to take take take.
However she didn't last that long before she had her fill of trick or treating.
So she came back to Tannie's house and played with the toys while everyone else finished up. But she was getting a little tired so we called it quits for this year. I wonder what next year will be like?

daylight savings

Thanks to the time change:
I had one of the longest nights of my life, Harrison played a good part in that, but on the up and interesting side Gwen took and almost 4 hour nap today. I don't know how that happened. And all because a of little movement of the hands of a clock.
