We have been having a bit of crazy weather. Yesturday (picture above) it snowed. Well maybe I should start at the beginning. This past weekend it got really cold and started raining...out here that means Ice Storms. I have never seen or hear of one of these until moving here to Texas. So I was pretty surprised when it was only raining and cold and people were talking of school and work cancelations. But alas here are some pictures that will help everyone see the madness that is an Ice Storm. These pictures are from our patio...because we have not been able to go anywhere else since Sunday night. Let me tell you, I thought not having my own car was bad, but basically being stuck in your own home in a storm...way more depressing.

So this one is of the trail around the complex...I don't know if you can see it too well but that is ice covering everything, not snow.

Here are some trees that are totally weighed down by the heavy ice, they are bent over the fence.

This is a look at the parking lot below us...it is entirely cover in a sheet of ice...basically my own personal skating rink. James made an attempt to go out yesturday and he was unable to even open our car doors, they were totally sealed shut. The cars look like they are growing out of the ground because the ice goes from the car bumpers to the sheet of ice on the ground.

And here is our little patio...all ice. At night when the wind blows the rain it hits the doors and windows and it sounds like lots of people are tapping their fingers on them. Kind of creepy if you ask me. On Tuesday morning I tried to look out the window to see outside, and the whole window was coverd in a layer of ice! I know that this whole post sounds the same but I am totally blown away, it is like nothing that I could have imagined. So today almost all the roads are closed ( mostly the ones with or leading to overpasses) and the airport has canceled all the flights, and it is the second day of school at UT that has been canceled. The weather channel said that it should be warming up past freezing in a day or so, hoping that the rain will stop from turning to ice on contact, but you know how I feel about the weather people. So I guess we will see. But the tip of the day is that in the event of an Ice Storm, please remember that it is usless to hide under your desk, or in a bathtub for that matter. I hope that everyone is staying warm, until the next post this is secret agent Lonna for Austin Barlow's news thanks for tuning in.

Dear Lonna, Wow! I have never seen an actual ice storm. Jen has when she was in Pennsylvania. It sounds so weird! It is hard to imagine everything covered with ice. Thanks for the pictures and the completion of your secret mission! It helps to understand. I hope you had enough food in the house! and are warm too.
Love,
Syl
Lonna,
I am so sorry to hear that you have become yet another victim of an ice storm. Ice storms are no fun! Kansas City gets a few every year. We ended up having to get a new car because we were in an accident after one of the nasty storms. I wish I had pictures of a Kansas City ice storm on my computer so I could send you one, but I don't. You'll have to come to my house for those pictures. I hope your cars fare better than ours did. It is super cold here if it makes you feel any better. I hope you can get into your cars and out of your house soon!
Love,
Julia
