the hair war

You know when your hair gets to the point where it no longer does the style that you first cut it to do, but it really can't quite pull off something else? Well this is the stage that I am in. I envy James sometimes that he can just pop into whatever local haircutting place is near us and come out with exactly what he wanted, and for under $15. I know that people say that it is just hair and it will grow back, but it is not the growing back part that worries me, it is the day to day with the slaughter until it grows back out that you have to deal with.

I used to work with a girl that would drive over 2 hours to get to the girl that cut her hair. At first I thought that it was a little extreme, but only because I lived but a mere 10 minutes from mine. But when we moved I found myself in a little bit of a situation. Do I wait it out and get the amazing haircut that fits my face every 4 or so months when I might be going back, or do I bite the bullet and find someone new that I will have to pay to break in?

My solution to the problem has been to wait it out and update my hair every time that we head back to visit family. I know that you are all thinking that I am crazy, but my girl really is that good. And I don't break the bank for each visit. Well I just wanted to vent a little about the awkward stage that my hair is in, even though I have put myself in this spot. I just wondered if anyone else has ever struggled with a similar situation.

Okay....you've opened up a huge can of worms in my life so I'll share my experience in this area. If you think someone driving 2 hours to get their hair done is extreme...how about flying 3 hours on a plane AND renting a car to drive an additional hour to get their hair done...yeah, that crazy person is me. I've lived here almost 4 years now, and had only 2 hair cuts here. Both of which I didn't like. I'm all for waiting and getting what you want, ESPECIALLY if you are getting a deal, but even if your not....it's worth the wait to pay for what you really want. Don't you agree?? :) I CANNOT stand having a bad hair cut....I have what I fondly refer to as hair-phobia. I don't want my do messed up! So...when you see me in a pony-tail everyday right now, you'll be able to guess I have one of the 2 hair-cuts I've received here. Whew...I think I feel a little bit better getting that off my chest.

I would wait it out. I've lived here a year and a half and had 2 bad hair cuts, one of which I'm currently dealing with. I get my hair done every time I visit WA.

How funny, I'm not that picky as you can tell...lazy is more the word. I don't want to find anyone here...so I'm driving to Austin to get it done by Paige's girl again on Friday finally. Ok I'm not going just to get my hair done but still. Maybe you should try her out. I'll miss you since I heard you aren't going to be there. Next time!

I hate my hair. Every time I get pregnant my hair gets less curly. I have been growing my hair out for over a year now and it looks bad but i don't have the heart to cut it all off. I get my hair cut about every 6 weeks and I drive 30 minutes to North Salt Lake. I like the girl who does my hair, but I've never had an amazing hair cut from her. I would find someone new but I too hate breaking in a new hair person. Why is it that when the stylist cuts and then styles your hair it looks great but as soon as you get home and try to recreate the style your hair looks terrible and you hate the cut?

Have I ever! I know just how you feel. Nothing is worse than going to someone new who totally screws up your hair. However I have gone to many a new girls and come out completely satisfied. I would just ask around to people with cute hair and see where they get it done. Have it done now to get you out of your slump and then get it done again when you come home. That way you have the best of both worlds. Nothing is worse than the "grow out" stage.

Lonna, you are so dang adorable that you could have Gwen cut your hair and still be gorgeous!

I feel your pain though. I have a hard time with ever liking how my hair is cut. Good luck with the wait. You do look nice with your hair pulled back.
