the power of books
Today we took a trip to the Library and found out how well Gwen does NOT sit through story time. So we had to leave. While we waited outside of the story time group Gwen decided that she was going to do a little reading of her own. So the unhappy face is because she just bonked her head before climbing up to the table, and because she won't smile for me to take her picture. Oh well it was an eventful day at the Library, and an even more interesting ride home. Kids, you just have to love them.
Oh I almost forgot that Gwen has been sleeping in the big girl bed for almost two weeks, including naps, but she has one little habit that cracks me up, reading in bed. Yep every time I go in to check on her or get her up from sleeping I find her favorite books strewn all over the bed and sometimes still in her hands. Tonight it was "Once upon a potty" that was tucked in right next to her. I hope that she continues to love reading all her life.

Congratulations on the transition to the big girl bed! Eric loves books too, but he hasn't started sleeping with them yet. Your library looks like a really fun place.
The library is one of my favorite places to be. I am glad Gwen has the book habit as all intelligent people do! Way to go Gwen! Even if it was an informational book about potty training.
You'll think it's cute until she burns her blankie trying to cover up her reading lamp at night so that you won't see that she's still reading at 2 am, or when the teacher contacts you to tell you that he's worried because Gwen stays in at recess to read instead of playing with the other kids.
It's a hard, nerdy life that she is embarking on...
Oh Mike, I know that you have had a really hard time trying to move past those hurtful times in school. Maybe you should ask Kim how she and her Latina friends would have treated you. If you can pull through it I am sure that after many trips to the principals office and fights in the halls Gwen too will pull through. Who knows maybe she will go on to be a rock star? You know she has the dance moves for it.
Well, you're doing the right thing by encouraging the reading and providing fun activities with books! Keep it up, Lonna!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys story time from the perimeter! It's almost as if Coop and Gwen are two peas in a pod! Good job getting her into her big girl bed!
nothing is better than curling up with a good book in bed. I'm glad that she's learning the little indulgences in life.
can we have that book if she's not using it tonight. i'm goign to stick it under tyson's head and hopefully osmosis will take over. we need all the help we can get!
