letter of the day

Gwen loves the alphabet. She is singing it all the time. I like to play a little game with her when she sings it, I randomly stop singing on different letters so that she can tell me which one comes next and I have to admit that she is pretty dang good. So for Easter we got her this little alphabet set that sings the song, as well as teaches the sounds of each letter. She cracks me up because all day today the favorite letter that was played the most between all the other ones was...

The W. She even showed James what her letter said. Every letter makes a sound the W says wa. I thought for sure that her favorite would be the G. Because she says that G is for Gwen, but alas the mom is wrong again. We sure do love letters around here.

We love that little toy. It taught Gracie her alphabet and is probably responsible for her early reading skills.
Benjamin also loves to put the W in ours. Must be something about that W that they can't resist.

What a great gift! She is one smart cookie! But no surprise there, considering her parents!

Anna likes to do a similar exercise with me. Coincidently her favorite letter is "w" also. for example:
wa-wa-why haven't you done the dishes or wa-wa-what do you think you are doing with my lipstick.

Anyway, I like those little things. I think Dianna has the same one and the boys all seemed to like it very much.

Well Lonna, I'm so sorry, but I just get so behind with your blog. How do you have so much to blog about? I barely scrape by each week with one new post... You are my blogging hero!

I love those fridge letters. Megan has those too. I was playing with them to see what it would say when a letter makes more than one sound. I discovered that it did indeed make both sounds. However, Mike and Kim did not have the letter X so I'm curious to see if it says it makes the sound x and z (as in xylophone). Let me know. By the way, Gwen's easter dress is beyond adorable, especially with that big smile on her face. And I'm glad to see that Harrison has inherited the flexible gene. I love the toe-touch picture.

Well Crystal I am glad that you asked about the letter X. You see I too was curious how that one would sound on the letter machine. This may sound funny as I am trying to describe it to you, but I think that it will make sense. Ok, when you say the letter X, there is a lingering sound after the beginning (eh) sound. Kind of a snake like ksss. If you are with me keep reading, the sound that is described with this toy is the latter part of the letter sound. So the song would say every letter makes a sound X says ksss. If you are still curious just give me a call and I will play that one for you.

How clever of Gwen to choose the second letter of her name as her favorite. Which is funny because Ryan is convinced it's the twins' favorite letter too. I love all the little magnetized things you have on your fridge! I am baffled at how they stay on, as we only have about 2 letters of the alphabet that haven't been lost. What a great little easter present. I love to hear Gwen say the alphabet!

How fun! I should maybe get that for Abby since when we try to sing the alphabet, she yells, "Stop." I didn't know we were that bad, so she has yet to learn the alphabet. Way to go Gwen for knowing it already!

That ABC toy looks awesome! We haven't celebrated Eric's birthday because Brian has been out of town so I think I need to run over to the store tonight and pick one up.
