Start your December engines
It is that time of year again. You know where you buy your kids special holiday looking clothes, and you turn your house upside down to put up decorations that you spend all your time yelling at the kids not to touch. Yes it is the Christmas season and we have made sure to start it off with...well chaos what else.
Harrison is sporting a nose wound from taking a spill on Thanksgiving, and he needs a little haircut as well.
Gwen is excited for the holiday stuff, and she is getting better at saying cheese for the camera when I tell her to, instead of giving the mad face. That is just fine with me.
So to start off the winter festivities we warmed up with a little hot chocolate and mini marshmallows, the kids didn't like the drink as much as they liked the soggy treats floating inside. Oh well more for me.
Then we started the total destruction and rearrangement of the house. Gwen and Harrison made me push them around on the couches every time I moved one. That is a lot of pushing around.
And we busted out the tree! Gwen was so excited I didn't realize that she remembered, but she just kept saying mom its our tree, turn on the lights, so we did.
The the clean up and final touches arrived. Just before lunch and nap time. Perfect.
Fireplace that we never use, check.
Topping off the entertainment center, check.
And the partially finished tree. After I had it up and I started putting on the ornaments I had already told the kids not to touch the tree over a hundred times and I was actually debating putting it back in the box. That is why it is incomplete. I guess I should put a finished picture of in on here. I'll get to that.
As for today, we are taking a break from cleaning and rearranging. At least I think we are. Now people I want to see what fun decorations you put up for the holidays, I love to see all the different kinds of trees and decorations. Let the end of the year countdown begin.

I loved seeing your Christmas decorations. I will take pictures of ours and blog them so you can see them. I love to see Gwen & Harry's smiling, sweet faces!
even if it is a partially decorated tree, i think it looks great. both of your kids are looking very festive!! isn't it great that Harrison can be looking great in a festive vest and shorts! I love Christmas in Texas. We put up our decorations yesterday as well and I realized what people use their fireplaces for around here - to hang up stockings! I have no where to hang them this year. Time to get innovative!! Your place looks great.
I am so impressed that you have decorated for Christmas. I am afraid of what my children will do to the Christmas tree when I am not looking. I love Gwen's Christmas dress. Kaitlin almost had that same dress but my mom went for one with long sleeves because we couldn't find a cute little sweater for the other one.
Yes the season is here and he count down has begun, and I am afraid that I am a bit behind, but your dad did get he tree up and it is beautiful. Yes I do love Christmas, and it is fun to see how he Barlows do Christmas decorating. I remember other children who loved putting up the tree and all the fun things too. What a wonderful life. I have so many blessings, including the Barlows. thanks, & love from Logan
Lonna, I remember all of your beautiful decoration pictures from last year and have thought about trying to spruce up our tree a little bit this year, so as to slightly resemble something like yours. However, I never got around to buying ribbons, or bulbs, or even a star. it's still just got ornaments from both mine and Taylor's younger years and nothing else. Oh well, I love it anyway. Maybe next year I'll make a "lonna" tree.
Fun! i will post mine as soon as we do it! things have been a bit crazy at our house this week so we will be putting the tree up on Friday.

P.s. I love the outfits, especially Gwen's dress.
yea Christmas! Am I a loser for wanting to go see the movie again?
This is classic. I think I told you before, Claire didn't smile for pictures until about 3. I'm not kidding. I'm glad Gwen is taking a liking to it sooner. Your place looks great. I'll have to post some of our new house soon. I was so sad, when I pulled out my decorations this year, I thought I was missing some boxes. Sure enough, Chris told me, when the movers unpacked our stuff, 2 boxes were crushed....Christmas stuff. Gone, in the trash, I was pretty sad. :( At least the old yucky country decorations I've had for 17years made it through. Just what I hoped. (NOT!) Why couldn't they have crushed the old stuff, not the new stuff? Ok...Enough complaining!
I love the decorations!! Very cute my friend...I especially love the little cup and saucer (I'm sure you remember where that little cutie came from...well at least we got a few good things out of that place!). We have adopted the one touch policy with the tree, Cooper is finally old enough to not care about it, and thankfully Payton is catching on to the one touch policy (you can touch but only with your pointer finger). Good luck!!
Your tree resembles ours...I had to put the breakables up top and after an incident with Maddie almost toppling the tree, now enforce the rule 'no taking ornaments off'! Oh it's a tough job. As always, I love what you have done, your decorations have such a unique style to them no one has yet to replicate! I didn't notice how much I love your tree skirt. Hmmm... I am going to have to ask you about its origins.
GREAT Christmas decor. I love the white bowls with the balls.
