waiting for Santa...

On Monday Gwen and I decided to get ready for Santa. Well basically I was lifted up in the Holiday cheer because all the commercials are so festive and I decided that I was ready for a little Christmas cheer in the Barlow home. So Gwen helped me hang up some stockings...and this has become a great hiding spot for her things.
She helped me fill up some jars with neat and shiny things,
We pulled out stars, and candles, and ornaments,
And we put up the tree. Now this is a particularly tricky thing with a 21 month old, she wanted to take it apart as soon as we got it up, but she is pretty much over the shock of having her own tree in the front room now, so we are going to leave it up for Christmas, thank goodness I wouldn't want to not have a tree, just because Gwen couldn't stop taking off the ornaments. But that is just my personal feelings. Welcome to the crazy Christmas season. I am so ready for the Christmas music.

Merry Christmas. Let the festivities begin. I have secretly been listening to Christmas music for a week and a half. Play a little Alabama Christmas, and Mannheim for me.
I love your Christmas decor, and I am glad the tree is going to stay for the season. What would Christmas be without a tree.
I sure am going to miss Burnet nativity.

Lonna, I am going to most definitely employ you to decorate my house. How do you get your christmas stuff to not look like a cheesy boutique? I have decorated my house in past years and by the time I'm done I hate it and feel like I'm in the Quilted Bear. Anyway, I might have to steal some of your decoration ideas.

P.S. Love the picture of you and James. Very chic! (If it hadn't been displayed in your house I don't think I would have recognized that boy as James)

Yes, that is the problem with a lot of decorations, cheesy boutique! Couldn't have said it better myself! Lonna I have always loved your taste in home decorating and Christmas is no exception. It is a whole different story when you have kids, and I'm glad you didn't let that stop you from the tree. Ours is decorated from about 2.5 feet down and it works for us. I love sharing the season with the little ones, it makes it so much more special!

Lonna, we do so miss your decorating touch, it is definatly your forte'.
Dad and i just don't have what it takes, and it's probably a good thing you can't see what we've done, you would definatly put us in the too much of a good thing , dad really got carried away this year with the berries. Neither of us have your talent for decor. But we knew it would eventually come down to losing our decorator to a better cause. happy Holidays and we love you.
