dinner danger
Last night I had this fantastic idea for dinner. I wanted to make Navajo fry bread, I was short one small part, so after a little substitution I was back on track, or so I thought. After getting the oil ready and trying out a little bit of the bread, James came to the rescue. He rolled out a piece of dough and plopped it in the oil, but when he dropped the dough oil splattered out, landing right on his foot. The oil caused a blister to appear magically right before our eyes and James was in some serious pain. So we called nurse Kim, but all we did was end up laughing at the whole thing. Sorry James. I guess that we will not be trying that dinner again. It turned out to be quite a disaster.

note to self:
stand far away from the stove if lonna is ever cooking!!
Why isn't there a picture of the blister forming on James's foot??? I hope you got to eat some of the fry bread. When you visit next, I'll show you how in more detail, if you are up to trying again! It takes a clever woman to try new things!!
You know I thought about putting a picture on the blog...however it was pretty ugly, and I didn't want to gross anyone out. So think of it as a gift that I did not put one on.
note to self:
Don't ever let James around hot oil
(Lonna, I'm sticking up for you because it wasn't your fault that he got a second degree burn)
P.S. Taylor always gets real concerned when I cook with hot oil because I usually get it going super hot so without fail, every time he warns me that oil his a low flash point. Meaning it could spontaneously start on fire at any second. It always makes me really nervous.
Thanks for sparing us the picture of the blister...same reason I didn't post the pic of Londie's first poop in the toilet (disgusting for everyone really, except her mom). And maybe you should stick with a less flammable dish to prepare, say Panda Express? Just kidding, you know your breadsticks are to die for. I wouldn't write off Navajo fry bread just yet. :)
Buck up James, do I need to come do daily dressing changes.
Just teasing, a 3rd degree burn is never fun :),and I bet it ruined the excitement of fantastic Navajo tacos.
Lonna, why didn't you tell me you were making Navajo Fry bread when you called, I might have been able to give you some tips. Anyway, we hope James is recovering well and that he will not be put off helping in the kitchen. Love mom and Dad D
Have you ever heard of the show called Dinner Impossible?
That Navajo bread is tasty. If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. But wear shoes, please, James.
