dejunking
First off I am not quite sure if that is really considered a word, dejunking. Nope it is not. Spell check is not liking that one. Well it is a word around our house and after picking up a ton of toys and too many clothes today I have decided to take on a New Years resolution. I know that is a really big step for me to commit to something like that but I think that things have gotten a little out of hand around here.
You know before James and I were married I basically pack ratted whatever I could, little silly things that my friends and I did or laughed at, or even just random things that I really liked, sadly I believe that some of that stuff is still at my parents home, ( mom honestly feel free to get rid of anything that is there, it is not like I have needed it, or even thought about it, in the last 6+ years) Yikes!
Well when I married James he is not in any way shape or form a pack rat or a big saver of things. So I just happened to come into our union with A LOT of shoes, ( when I say a lot it is a really embarrassing number) so when I wanted to get another pair James told me that to get one new pair I had to get rid of at least 5 other pairs each time. Ouch! I think that I still have scars from that one. This has been a great lesson to me throughout our marriage and through quite a few moves, so I think that James has rubbed off on me enough that I am ready to take on the task, even if it means one drawer at a time.
So this is what I will be working on for the next year, I really hope that it won't take nearly that long, I am curious to know what kinds of things everyone else pledges for the upcoming year.

Oh, I thought I was doing okay on the getting rid of things while I was reading your post until the specific topic of shoes came up. I'm also guilty of hoarding shoes. I need to dejunk my shoe pile too. Good goal.
But some things are worth treasuring. Don't let James rub off on you TOO much.
Oh dejunking is SO a word and for some of us needs to be a full-time hobby! :) Interesting, I thought James was more the pack rat type than you, though when it comes to shoes, all bets are off. I must say I can't throw away anything kid/memory related. I had to get 6 boxes of baby clothes down to 2 and I could barely hold it together. Though every time we move...what a sad reminder of how much junk we have! This is on my list too, as well as starting a business and potty training the twins. You and I need to start some type of dejunking/potty training support group this year.
I think dejunking is a word! I use it all the time, so watch for it in the new updated Webster's Dictionary! It is always difficult to decide what to save and what to toss. Not everything should be tossed! Despite James's core belief. I have actually tossed things I was sorry about later. I'll have to think about what I want to accomplish this year. That was a very good question, Lonna.
Lonna, I need to DEJUNK too! My kids toys are just not orderly. SO I will take on that task, as I don't really like to throw things away. I also want to get into better shape. I am shooting at losing between 40-50 pounds. I have to take it one day at a time!
Best of luck on your dejunking!

good luck, I wish Taylor would take on that resolution. He is the biggest pack rat of all and it drives me nuts!! I guess I'm more like James in that department. However, taylor has told me on more than one occasion that I need to get rid of a shirt or a pair of shoes before I buy another one. Don't be embarrassed by your number, it's totally a girl thing.
I pledge to stop looking at the weather widget you have on your main page because it's starting to upset me. COME ON! 66° (at least last time I checked).
I say enjoy it! I love to dejunk. I feel great, and not guilty when I get new things, cause I have room for them. Like yesterday, I took some of Leslies clothes that were going to DI and I knew I didn't need them so I went to my closet and got rid of the clothes I had kept for dumb reasons like "shurly someday I will wear it again". It felt great.
