double take

This is me as a kid. Does this remind you of someone that you have seen before? Maybe. Maybe not? I found this picture while I was looking for another one to use, but it seems that I put it somewhere else. I actually have a picture that is almost identical to the last picture of this post of me sitting on our kitchen table the first time my mom was able to put my hair in French braids, but I guess that since the photos are basically the same it won't matter that I can't find it.
There are days when I look at Gwen and it is like I am seeing my childhood pictures come to life. Today was one of those days.
My mom used to do my hair like this, and finally I have found something that works so that Gwen is distracted long enough for me to actually do something with her wild mane.
I love to see her crazy little dances and language skills evolve. I know that she and I have a lot in common besides our stubborn streak, but I am curious to see what she will be like when she is older.
This was one of my favorite ways to have my hair done when I was younger. My mom was amazing, she had a different hairstyle for each one of her three girls everyday of the year. And her braids were always straight and even, we will have to work on that one. So this one is for you mom, does it bring back some morning routine memories or what.

You and Gwen look an awful lot alike. I think you did a really good job on the braids. I keep trying to braid my child's head but Rene' says that it tickles her belly.

You guys are twins, it's wild. I love the braids, they're beautiful, I remember when I was little my mom had perfect braids too, but she would pull my little hairs so tight that I would cry...

Wow how fun to have Gwen look like you, too bad I don't have that. And what do you do to keep her distracted, b/c I have yet to find anything to distract Abby long enough to do a braid. Maybe I am too slow. Very cute pictures though, I can't wait to see you guys soon.

Wow, it does bring back memories for sure. But I will say that you girls were very good at sitting, or standing. With a little more practice Gwen may have slant eyes, then you'll know that you are like your mom. I remember when you were little, you didn't have as much hair so you have to take smaller amount of hair to make it look more even and straight. love mom.

It looks beautiful honey, and it's so much better than when I used to try to braid your hair, but I'll always be the pony tail king. Keep up the good work, and I don't think you two look alike. I think the top picture is just a hair cuter, kind of reminds me of a special Island Princess i used to know. In that picture I think she's three years old. Love dad.

Yes those are some mad hair braiding skills; what a pleasant surprise to have the twins' hair french braided yesterday! I haven't tried that since their second birthday. I think you have the hair thing down to an art form. I can't believe your mom did 3 different hairstyles every day. It helps when you have little girls as cute as you, and Gwen. :) My mom too is a master stylist and whips out all sorts of things on the girls when we see her. I always try to recreate them, but it takes a lot of practice. At least we have the time, and the girls, to do so! So much fun!

Wow! You sure look alike! There is a decided likeness, though I think there is a little difference in looks...it must be because Gwen is not an island princess, at least not yet! I am amazed at how nice those french braids look! I NEVER was able to do anything even close to that intricate. It is a good thing I only had two girls and that they were far apart! love,Syl

i can't believe how much Gwen looks like you as a kid. So cute! And braids were very popular for us as well. I think we could bring it back for adults, what do you say?
