morning start

This morning as James was heading out the door, a very fast visitor came in. It was so speedy I am pretty sure that I gasped really loud. We brought Gwen over so that she could see it and she kept calling it an alligator. When James went to try to pick it up he cornered it and as he went to scoop it up, part of its tail came off as a little defense mechanism. So then we had a really fast lizard and a tail flailing all over the place. A very interesting few minutes. James was able to scoop him up and take him and his tail outside.

When James picked up the tail there were these little grooves where the tail detached. It was really interesting. I think that it is really neat how all these different animals survive. I just don't really like them in my house.

We saw that exact kind of lizard (maybe the same one?) when driving out of your complex Saturday. I can't believe he came in your house!? I agree, the little critters need to stay outside. We have seen at least two chameleons in the last week and the kids go crazy. My dad even took them on a "lizard hunt"! How funny, we will watch for an alligator with no tail next time we come to visit. :)

I think I could deal with a lizard, but I just can't handle really big spiders. I think Eric would really enjoy chasing lizards.

If one of those came into my house, i think i would do a little more than gasp!! However, it's funny that I just read this because about 10 minutes ago we were looking out on our balcony and Tyson saw a lizard so we went out to look at it - and my biggest fear was that it would come into the house so i made sure to close the door behind me! it made a flying leap to the ground below when tyson got near! i guess lizard season comes before cricket season!!

That is one tiny little alligator. I hope you told Gwen how cool it was instead of how scary it was. I used to get in the window wells when I was a little girl and collect salamanders. If I knew then, what I know now about freaky spiders that live in window wells, I would have never done that.

Gecko, iguana, lizzard. There's no place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place like home.

I remember the lizards we found in our garage...I kinda liked them, but like I said they were in our garage. Now we have birds in our walls (well and all over our yard)...I'm not sure what's better
