Playmobil celebrates the season

As we were out and about yesterday we popped in to Target for some shopping and lunch. Gwen got this go-gurt (yogurt) with her lunch and she was so thrilled to squish and squeeze the yogurt out. I didn't think that she was ever going to put it down. Can you see the grip she has on that?

Harrison was enjoying some goldfish. Waiting for a little pizza. While we were there I took the chance to pick up a little playmobil Nativity set for the kids. My friend Jackie told me about the one she got for her kids, and I thought it was such a great idea. My plan is to tell the manger story each night with the kids before they go to bed. Gwen carried around the three kings all afternoon still in the bag, because I told her that we would open them with dad that night.

Well I had enrichment last night, and funny enough James was helping out with the kids class so he had our kids at the church, and after all the cleaning up and getting home really late, Gwen was still holding the bag with the "kids". Finally when we got home and in jammies James opened the Nativity set with her.
She LOVED the animals, and the baby Jesus. She wanted to take them to bed with her.
So here is the whole set, almost...umm the cow is in Gwen's hand in her bed. All of the little people are really cute. Gwen is calling them by their names she totes around Joseph and the sheep and she drinks her pretend drinks out of the golden goblet that one of the three wise men carries. So I guess that we will see if the story sticks or if we lose all the parts in less than 24 hours and the whole thing was just a waste. Here is to trying to spin Christmas my way.

What a fun nativity set. Where did you find it? My kids have the little people nativity set. Auntie Erin gave it to them for Christmas. I guess I better haul out the Christmas decorations so they can play with it.

What a great idea! I wish I had had something like that when my kids were small! I love that you can tell the story and she can touch them and love them! Way to go Lonna!

This is so cute! You've inspired me to pick one up. Claire loves to play and touch my 'good' one. I always let her, hoping she'll be careful. This looks perfect for her. Miss you and your cute family. Thank goodness for blogs. :)

That is just about the cutest nativity set that I have ever seen!! I love the death grip on the gogurt, actually I am just impressed that Gwennie knows how to operate the gogurt...Coop tries to stick the whole thing in his mouth and bite...not our most genius moment!! Lons, I really miss you this holiday season, well I really miss you every holiday season, but for some reason this one more than most. Thank you for always being only a phone call away, and for understanding, and for being supportive!! Steve asked me the other night if I needed more friends (I was having a rough day), and I said, "no I only need you and Lonna" You will always be the little sister I never had!! I love ya! Have a great day!

Love, kelly

I keep trying to tell Megan that Christmas is Jesus' birthday, but for some reason all she can think about is Santa.

Don't tell Kim, but I'm giving Santa the axe soon.

Wow I didn't know Playmobil made the nativity set! That's way cute! Great idea.

And by the way I LOVE the print of Christmas ornaments you have on the entertainment center. SO COOL!

As always Lonna you are a master decorator. I always think about you around Christmas time because you make it so special. Even more so now because you have little ones! I love the Playmobil nativity, my mom got us a kid-friendly nativity but not as elaborate. We too carry the animals around the house to play with. I like the idea of telling the manger scene before bed, what a great way to teach them. I love all your Christmas decorations and am glad we get to celebrate Christmas in Austin this year!
