On Saturday we went with Ryan and Leslie and the twins to a kite festival.

First we had to play on the playground, until Gwen got pushed down by an older boy.

Then we played by the water, James taught her how to throw rocks into the water.

Then it was onto make kites. This was one of the little activities that they had for kids.

Here Leslie is trying to help London and Maddie fly theirs. Two kites at a time is pretty tricky.

Then James and Ryan brought in the big guns...real kites.

And they tried to fly them.

Notice who is doing the kite flying, it is not the girls, it is James and Ryan who were crazy about the kites.

James was more into trying to fly the Elmo kite than Gwen was. But we had a great time being outside and playing in the sun, breezy weather, and we can't forget the dirt! I can't speak for Leslie but when we got home and I put Gwen in the tub the water was practically black from all the dirt that she had on her. I guess that meant that she had a good time.

dirt is always an indicator of how good a time kids have! I am glad you have such nice weather for kite flying! We have mud, mud and more mud as the huge piles of snow continue to melt!
I think James and Ryan should have looked for comic book kites instead of Elmo, since they ended up in the distance with no kids around! :) What a fun day, the girls are still talking about flying kites with Gwen. I'm not sure why they think they flew kites with Gwen, my memories are mostly of dirt, our bathtub has not yet recovered either. Oh well, a little dirt never hurt anybody...You are pretty sneaky with that camera you know. At least the girls hair was done, lol!
omg, i forgot how fun that could be. we have the perfect field next to our house at the park. we totally need to get out and fly kites after this next storm leaves and it gets warmer next week. you've inspired me!
We are doing a wind and air unit in our classroom and we made kites but they weren't that great, but the paper airplanes were awesome and the wind socks were great keep up the fun stuff, your kids will look back and say that was such a fun time. Love mom
Kites are awesome for kids. James is a good daddy.
I have always enjoyed flying kites. I don't know why but I get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

I saw many kites flying that weekend and wondered what it was all about. I'm glad you are able to get out and go do all the fun Austin things.
