We took a little trip to the local fire station for our playgroup, and it was a lot of fun. They started off showing all the kids where they live for the 24 hour shifts that they work. They each have their own rooms, also a big weight room and kitchen that they share.

They took us outside to the emergency vehicles and showed what kinds of things the fire truck carries in the secret compartments. Random items like life jackets, in case of flooding, or pet rescue supplies for the animal in need.

Here they are putting on the fire suits to show the kids what they look like when helping out the people who are in fires. They let the kids try on the boots if they wanted to as well.

Checking out the inside of the fire truck. Gwen did not want to get out. I basically had to drag her out so they could start on the next part of the tour, seriously dirt on the bum of her shorts.

The kids were able to see what kinds of things the outside of the trucks did too, like the lights, sirens, and of course...

spraying the fire hose!!! Gwen loved this part and actually swatted the fireman's hand away so that she could do it by herself. They had a target set up for the kids to aim at. It was a good way to make sure that the landscaping was watered for the day.

After all the running around and water time all the firemen on duty came up for some photos. Gwen is picking her nose, nice right. Well you win some and you lose some. But we had a good time, no tears, and I think that we will have to go back soon, it is all she can talk about. So all in all it was lots of fun at station 39, and you can't beat that.

Lonna,
What a fun field trip.. Anytime a kid talks about the fun they had, it was well worth it.
Love,
Suzy
Tyson totally looks gay in that first picture with his hand like that, his tongue out and his foot like that. totally funny. He gets that from Brent. JK!! Anyway, i thought it turned out to be a great field trip. Gwen seemed to be enjoying herself and it was cute to watch her and then talk to her about it afterwards. If the kids have a good time, it's a totally successful day in my opinion!!
Lonna, Gwen's hair looks great. you're getting to be an expert at braids. I love the nose pick at the end, at least she wasn't the only one, it looks like the little boy to the right of her is going after one too.
What a fun outing!! About the only place my kids get to go is Costco and the grocery store.
It's been a while since I was there, but it sure is a fun field trip. I remember the Cub Scouts going there one time.
What a fun idea! Your play group sure does some creative, interesting things.
I wonder if the Logan fire department even has an extra engine to spare for a fun little field trip... looks like another fun and successful Austin field trip! I think I'm ready to go on an Austin field trip!!
Your play group is amazing. If I ever start one in P-ville I am looking through all your archives to get ideas. :) Between that and the donuts there is enough excitement to last months! I love these pictures of Gwen, she is always darling.
