we're #1

Tuesday was day #366 (extra day for leap year included) of Harrison being in our home. We celebrated in the morning with a trip to the doctor for some shots and blood work. (that meant five pricks, or stabs of a needle.) That deserved lunch at whole foods in my book.
When James got home we had some really yummy pizza...
And cake and ice cream. I did baths before we had cake, what was I thinking?
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday little Harrison...

Nothing quite like frosting and melted ice cream before bed.
Even though Gwen has a bowl of cake, she prefers to take her bites right from the actual cake.
Time for some gifts. Gwen is more than willing to help Harrison out.
And the winner of the night is...
This little "talking" dog. Gwen named him Atticus, and she was giving him kisses, and calling it to come, just like you would for a real dog. It was really funny.
Harrison agreed, and even though he was a little more cautious, he was still curious enough play with it too. I have no idea what the next year will bring, especially because Harrison is so different than Gwen was, so time will only tell. As for the next few days we will be eating a lot of cake, and playing with some fun new toys. Yee Haw!

Happy Birthday to the little surrogate boy in our lives. :) What a darling one year old Harrison makes. I think the world is a happier, more handsome place with Harry in it. I just can't get over how cute he is with his little laugh and of course the "barrel chest".
It looked like a great celebration, even with a morning of shots. If I had a cupcake that size I would recover quite swiftly as well (is the cupcake that big or is it just the picture?) And I love that the little dog is named Atticus!
Well it appears that the best laid plans to give Harrison a new cousin (a boy cousin at that:) for his birthday were somehow thwarted, though maybe next year we can have some sort of double celebration. And I have got to learn how to make that cake!!

Happy Happy Birthday! That is the best looking giant cupcake I have ever seen! What a great idea and cake pan. Harrison is such a happy little boy, how lucky you are to have him in your family.

P.S. Gwen is such a crack up. Where did she come up with the name Aticus?

Happy Birthday Harrison! Man, that first year went fast. Harrison is such a cutie. And I love your huge cupcake cake, you are so vogue.

I think a dog for a little boy's birthday is perfect, especially a plastic one.

Holy Cow! It's been a year? I sure hope that little guy is giving you some serious love for all the crying he used to do. He is super cute. Happy Birthday to him. I love his cake, but more than that, I love Gwen talking to the dog and the name she picked for him. Too cute!
