blurry photos, and hail shmale
So now that's out of the way, we had a tornado/ severe weather warning throughout most of Texas today, and it was pretty overcast and breezy for most of the morning, I was staying posted during the afternoon because they were actually evacuating some places as the storm moved, so I wanted to know when it would be coming over our area, it was so crazy the weather outside went from just overcast to rain, to heavy rain and strong wind, to immediate hail ( the size at our place was about the size of a nickle- a quarter) and crazy wind (like 40 mph). All in all the storm passed over us in about 15 minutes, but it was really intense. I thought that the kids would be scared of how loud and quickly the storm came on, but Gwen was screaming with delight when she saw that the hail was turning the grass "white", and the "thunder was bringing the rain". I had no idea that she would enjoy the tornado warnings so much, maybe she will be a storm chaser?
While we were in the safety of our home James was driving home ( naturally it would hit during rush hour) and he was stuck at this light while the hail plastered the car, he thinks that we will have some dents for sure. Yikes. While we were watching the storm pass and staying updated with the local news coverage one of the members of our ward submitted some pictures of the hail that they had at their house...the size of a racquetball...a racquetball people! That is nuts. Well the storm passed and all is well now, but I have to say that is one thing that I do not love so much about spring in Texas, tornado season. Not something that I would be able to handle well, I would probably be the crazy lady that was trying to go to the store during it. I have some pictures of the hail that we had here, but I will have to post them later. It appears that blogger is having a scheduled outage, maybe I should have read that little warning before doing all the typing, whoops.

One thing I miss about living in the Midwest is the thunderstorms. Sometimes the storms terrified me, but it was fun to watch them roll in. We had snow today. I am so tired of the winter weather. I even had to go out and shovel the driveway. I wish I lived in Texas!!
I am the MOST Out Of Touch person ever, because I never watch TV or listen to the radio or check internet news. Yeah. So I had NO idea this storm was coming, or there's no way I would have been out doing errands this afternoon. Happily I had just gotten home when it started. We had ENORMOUS hail here, just unreal. I didn't know about the tornado threat, either, because me and the kids sat out on our back porch and watched the whole thing. Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't keep myself so insulated. I hope your car is ok!!!
I'm with Julia. When I lived away from Oklahoma (similar weather to Texas), I really missed the serious thunderstorms. They were wimpy in Colorado most of the time. I love it! As long as nobody gets hurt, and property isn't damaged, that is.
Oh, the crazy weather of Texas. Remember our ice storm party. Good Times. We miss you guys.
We have snow all this week, but no hail! or tornadoes! How scary! I am glad you are all ok! Where would you go during a tornadoe warning anyway?
That's scary. We just had bad rain and tornado watches and warnings, no hail (at least that I know of). And pretty sure it wasn't as big as the pictures I've seen so far even if we did. I hate all the rainy, nasty weather we are having, I forgot it's like this every spring. Cute picture by the way. Abby has the same sweatshirt!!
Wow. I definitely want to see pictures of that. Your poor car!
Well no hail here thank heaven, but I was talking to your Uncle Jerald, he is in the calving season and starting Friday they got a foot of snow, then another foot on Saturday and it is still snowing, they didn't even have church today. Sounds like a weather war on the world this week, but hopefully all of you are okay. I am quite a wimp, so we were envying our friends who are snow birding in Arizona at 83 degrees and wishing we were there. Mostly we are so grateful for all the blessings we have and looking forward to the summer when this storm will pay dividends in the garden department. God Bless. love to you all
