Sugar Detox

I don't know about the rest of you, but in preparing for Valentine's Day, going to parties, and birthday celebrations, and then the actual day of chocolate covered strawberries and eating out a ton, we are now in sugar detox mode. I never, Never, NEVER thought that I would be saying something like this, I mean I love treats and snickity snacks, but we (myself included) have just had too much. So starting tomorrow James goes back on his little diet, and the rest of us get to start eating healthier. Whatever that may mean. Thanks to all the peanut butter hearts you were fantastic, and the cookies, and the ice cream, you have all been truly wonderful, but the time has come to part ways...just for a little while.

We will be having some family come and spend some time with us in a few weeks, and I think that is a good time to throw the health to the wind and bring back the sugar high, until then we will be watching the High Fructose Corn Syrup intake, and drinking lots and lots of water. I will just keep telling myself how great it is going to be, then maybe I won't be so terrified to try to cook healthy.

Lonna? Who hacked into your blog? I don't know if I really believe what I'm reading! Maybe I should bring you some treats just to make sure you're serious. Is it possible for skinny Lonna, always armed with sugary snacks and goodies to have maxed out? It must have been a seriously indulgent Valentine's Day for you!

Okay, just because I'm jealous that you get to eat all that and look as good as you do, doesn't mean I don't wish you well in your change. That is, if it's really you.

I wish I felt the same way! I wish I got sick of sweets. I have one serious sweet tooth and I'm not sure if I have ever maxed out on treats! I guess by looking at me, that last statement is pretty obvious. But I'm proud of you guys and wish you well in you endeavor. And having family come? Who is coming? I'm jealous. I always love visitors.

Enjoy while you can, metabolisms do eventually slow down and sweet habits catch up to us. At least they did with me. Love you. mom

Yeah, Ryan and I feel that way too. Mom and Dad just gave us all their Valentines Day candy. Hopefully we will be ready for more when we come! If not sweets, be ready for restaurants cause I have a big list of ones we are supposed to try. I trust you and James to narrow it down to the best ones.

I didn't buy any Valentines candy this year. I wish I had because my kids are having fits today and I could really use a good 5 pounds of chocolate right now.

We have told Becky and Ryan about Kirby Lane, Rudys BBQ, the new pizza place, that sandwich with the fig sauce.....I think they are overwhelmed. so now is probably a good time to be in training and eat healthy because when company comes, all the rules change. How I wish I could be with you all!

Well apparently Ryan is on the same sort of diet, but he was a little vague on the rules. James, now there is some hard core self-discipline. If Biggest Loser Barlow addition were something you could run for, James would have my vote all the way. :)
Oh you are smart to cut back on the addictive substances. I use them to take the edge off a hard day, which lets be honest is every day. I am pretty sure I need some kind of intervention. And it doesn't help when Ryan comes home with $15 worth of girl scout cookies because "they didn't have change."
I admire your bravery, though you know our pantry is always open if the cravings call...Maybe when Becky and Ryan come we can have some sort of makeshift trick or treat party and catch up on the last month. :)

Good luck with that! I wish I could be healthy, I just don't think it's possible for me. Joe blames me for the girls' and his own bad eating habits now, so let me know how it goes and maybe you could help me out.
