Gwen got these really fun finger paints for her birthday, and she just recently started to show some serious interest in painting. So we pulled out the paints the other day just to see how creative the Barlow kids really are, and here is what we ended up with...
Young Harrison can actually hold the paintbrush, and he likes to do so.

He and Gwen are very serious about their art, I mean look at the concentration on those little faces.

I told Gwen that she could use her hands and fingers, but she was more interested in using the brushes as well. Hello can you say cut the mess in half, perfect!

Gwen is kind of funny when she is painting, she is all about one color at a time, she will use tons of red, and then when 95% of the paper is red, then she will switch to another color to use all over everything. I wonder if there is a personality test for painting that I could use to see what she will be like as a teenager...?

Then there is Harrison, totally not afraid to use the brush, fingers, hands, and smear it on his face and in the ears if need be. Then there is the sure fire way to tell if he is finished....

Whatever he is eating, doing, painting goes in the hair. Yep that means it is time to get down.
Last Sunday Harry found a few things to make himself just like dad...start with some shoes...

walk a little and then add a tie...

then tie it up just like dad. Isn't that the cutest thing ever! I mean he really tried to tie it just like James. I guess that he is the daddy's boy through and through. Except James doesn't run food or paint through his hair when he is finished at the table. ( at least not that I am aware of)

I love the no shirt, but apron Gwen is sporting!
I love it! That is darling! I love that he tried to tie the tie. Your kids are so cute, that painting is very serious business. I'm impressed you even had paper under the paper wow.

Ha...Love that Gwen isn't wearing a shirt...about the personality test that shows what she'll be like as a teenager, let's hope that the no-shirt thing doesn't carry over! :)
Your kids are so cute! I love when they start imitating things that you do. Lately Makenna has been putting in contacts and shaving her face. :)
Painting looks like fun, you are daring to let them do it inside.
Eric got finger paints for Christmas. He likes them but I haven't been brave enough to let Kaitlin try painting. Kaitlin is our wild and fearless child.
I love the pictures! believe it or not, James did used to put paint and food in his hair....that was when we called him Jamie. I am glad to say he has outgrown that interesting habit. I love seeing Harrison try on James's shoes and trying to tie his Tie. Those are precious pictures!
Painting topless? Like mother, like daughter (kidding).
Ok, that is pretty much the cutest thing I have ever seen, especially the shoe picture. I might have to blow that one up and frame it.
you are a nicer mom than i am. I usually just make tyson paint when avery is napping since I don't want to deal with that extra mess. however, tyson prefers to body paint like harrison than on the paper!
Jamie? That's cute. Not as cute as your kids but still cute. I'm sure James will be happy to know I'll still think of him as James.
Sweet. We've still got James' painting hanging on our wall.
Katelin likes to paint shirtless as well! We haven't tested Seth in the paint department, but he is totally about putting everything in his hair... food, books, toys, garbage. You name it, he's worn it on his head. I'm sure paint would be the same.
Harrison is so very cute trying to be like dad. And about painting. I'm proud of you Lonna, glad that you remembered that a house is not more important than children, and creativity begins at home, where expression can be guided. I remember thinking as a mom that a couple of art activities were what I called supervised fun, mostly painting and cutting activities. Have fun
Ok, so now we know, blue bonnets! About 6 weeks ago Justin and I started seeing families out and about in odd places, especially around the entrance to Steiner where there were all of these little flowers. There were photographers out in droves and we kept asking ourselves what was going on.
The pictures of Gwen and Harry are precious and now we know that next year we should join in the Texas tradition and take some pictures of our kids amongst the blue bonnets!
